Do you need to give your wireless password to a friend or guest, but can't remember it? Are you locked out of your own network because your computer decided to forget the password? If you need to retrieve your wireless password, you have a couple of different options, or you can reset your router and start from scratch. See Step 1 below to learn how. 1) 1 Open the Network Connections window. Windows saves the passwords for the networks that you connect to. To see your saved passwords, open the Network Connections window by right-clicking on your network icon in the System Tray and selecting "Open Network and Sharing Center". Click the "Change adapter settings" link in the left menu. Alternatively, you can press the Windows key + R, type ncpa.cpl , and press Enter to open the window. 2 Right-click on your wireless adapter. This may be labeled "Wi-Fi", or it may have the manufacturer's name. Sele...

The reason to partition Windows 8 or 8.1 hard drive Why we need to partition a Windows 8 or 8.1 hard drive? On the one hand, it is for data safety - if your Windows 8/8.1 hard drive only has one partition including Windows, boot files, programs, documents, photos and so on, when there is something wrong with your system, all data on the partition may be lost. On the other, hard drive partitioning can make full use of disk space and will be more convenient for us to assort different kinds of files and documents, and make our computer run smoothly. Three situations may force us to partition a hard drive in Windows 8 and 8.1 1. Only one partition on the hard drive. If there is only one partition on the hard drive, you need to divide more partitions for difference uses and data safety. You may assign one as the system partition and the others as data partitions. This could improve the performance of your computer and make you manage your files in a more efficient way. 2. A new ...

If Windows won’t boot, recovering your files can be a headache. You do not have to pull the hard drive or use a Linux live CD – you can use a Windows installer disc to quickly back up your files. We have included steps for both Windows 8 and Windows 7 here – the process is basically the same on each. You can use a Windows 7 disc to back up files from a Windows 8 system or vice versa. Boot From a Windows Installer Disc First, insert a Windows installer disc (or a USB drive with the Windows installer on it ) into your computer and restart your computer. If everything is working properly, you will see a “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD” message. Press a key to enter the installer. If you do not see this screen, you may need to change the boot settings in your computer’s BIOS . Click the Next option and select Repair Your Computer. You will see this option at the bottom-left corner of the window, whether y...

In this guide I explain how to recover personal files from a broken laptop. I assume the hard drive is still in good working order. For example, you can use this guide if the screen stopped working, motherboard failed, power jack stopped working properly, etc… but it will not work if the hard drive itself failed (stopped spinning, makes grinding noise, clicking noise, etc…) I’ll be retrieving data using an external USB enclosure for 2.5″ hard drives. Let’s go though the process step by step. STEP 1. First of all, remove the hard drive from the hard drive. If the hard drive has mounting brackets or caddy you’ll have to separate them from the hard drive. Most laptops use 2.5″ hard drives. It’s either IDE or SATA hard drive and you will see the difference in the following pictures 2.5″ IDE HARD DRIVE The IDE hard drive connector has two rows of pins. 2.5″ SATA HARD DRIVE The SATA hard drive has two flat connectors. One for data and one for power. By the way, same ...
